Your Cornish kitchen is not complete without a blue stripy Cornishware jug - the iconic British design that is almost 100 years old, first seen in 1924. I have matched the colour of this tea towel to the distinctive blue of the classic jugs, which was actually quite difficult as colour looks very different when printed on ceramic to cotton, but after many attempts I finally got it right

This stunnning blue tea towel is also actually a recipe, using my unique system of lino cut prints, each image illustrates an ingredient for a classic Cornish Pasty - another iconic design!

Originally cooked for miners in the Cornish tin mines, the pastry case was used as packaging for the filling, protecting it from the miner's dirty hands and disguarded rather than eaten. Very eco-friendly packaging, much like mine which is all recycled and/or recyclable. The packaging for this tea towel actually has the recipe for the pasty on it so you can cook your own

In addition to the ingredients, to add a flavour of Cornwall I have included a Cornishware jug and a fishing boat inspired by the paintings of Cornish artist Alfred Wallis, a personal favourite and much ignored artist from late 19th and early 20th century

This tea towel is 76 x 48 cm - absorbent, hard-wearing and fully machine washable at 40 degrees

Printed in the UK on 100% unbleached organic cotton, protecting your dishes and the planet

Did you know ...  in the early 19th century Cornish miners were world reknown for their mining skill and engineering technology. In 1825, a group was invited to Mexico to help establish mines for the newly discovered silver deposits. They were very successful and were soon followed by others who went there out of necessity as mines closed in Cornwall becasue of the rise of tin mining in Bolivia and Malaysia. There is still a tradition of eating Cornish pasties in Real del Monte in central Mexico and an obvious British influence in the architecture.

The miners are also credited with introducing football to the country!

Cornish Pasty is one of my Regional Recipes range of designs;

Bakewell Tart, Cornish Pasty, Irish Stew, Lancashire Hot Pot, Ploughman's Lunch, Scotch Broth, Scouse, Welsh Cawl and Yorkshire Steak and Ale Pie

All of these designs are available on greetings cards, with some also on aprons and oven gloves
