I did not know until I went to Liverpool a few years ago that Liverpudlians are called Scousers because they eat Scouse and not to other way around. I also found out that Scouse seems to be a very 'love it or hate it' kind of dish. I personally love it - proper comfort food!
This design is a recipe for Scouse with each image illustrating a different ingredient. Like most old-fashioned stews, the dish is very flexible, the cook would have chucked in any vegetables they had to hand. It originated as a way to eke out a piece of fairly poor-quality meat to get maximum nutrition, sometimes even made without the meat in what was known as 'blind scouse'
The cooking instructions are on the packaging so you can make your own
I have also included a view of the Liver building as seen from a ferry on the Mersey which is there to create an atmosphere and show the importance of location to the recipe
